This is the time of year we all focus on our family and friends. From the time leading up to Thanksgiving Day and throughout the holiday season, it’s a time of reflection, kindness, compassion and joy! This month Fred and Jeff focus on these themes and talk with folks who are working toward the goal of bringing everyone to the table of happiness.
Also on the grand ol’ program we talk with the folks from the Castañeda Museum of Ethnic Costume and find out what this organization is up to in the Old Pueblo.
We take a little road trip down to the wonderful Town of Bisbee and chat with some of the folks who make it a great place to live, work and play!
Renee Harper fills in for Jeff and does a great job ~ thinking of a host change ~ helping out with the Grand Ol’ Program. She is the Ghost Host of the Old Bisbee Ghost Tour, as well as the Creative Executive Officer of Sweet Midnight and the Mistress of the Macabre for The Bisbee Mini Museum of the Bizarre.
We sit down with Kathy Snowden from Finders Keepers Antiques & Collectibles and talk about all the fun events coming up for Halloween, which is apparently a HUGE event for the town.
Then Yvonne Ervin, Executive Director of the Innagural Tucson Jazz Festival, is in studio with the Tony Frank Trio. She talks about the huge festival being held in early 2015, all the scheduled artists and how it’s time to sign up to help make this a huge success. We also get to hear the Tony Frank Trio tear into a few classics!
Finally, Dr. Emma Blake previews the Downtown Lecture Series being presented at the Fox Theater. The University of Arizona faculty will explore “food” and its connections with people’s health, culture, and environment.
This week Fred and Jeff welcome David Ira Goldstein from the Arizona Theater Company to the grand old program. David is the Artistic Director and he talks about the current show, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, along with the lineup for the rest of the season.
Anita “Sarge” Kellman, founder of Beat Cancer Boot Camp, provides an update of her program, including a rundown of her time on America’s Biggest Looser!
Jeff gets replaced by his dad this week as Jim Ronstadt joins Fred to talk about all the great things going on in the Old Pueblo. Pat Jessup and Bucky Lovejoy roll by to talk about the Send a Kid to Camp and the Sportsmen’s Fund, then Bucky sticks around to talk about the Tucson Conquistadors, past, present and the future of the golf tournament.
