Shipping containers have been assembled at Tucson’s Museum of Contemporary Art for our summer fun.  Jocko Weiland tells us how they were brought to the Old Pueblo!

Then, Rosie Zwaduk and Pearry Teo, producers of “Strange Blood,” a movie shot in Tucson, talk about the movie and filming in our community.  Stars of the movie, Alexandra Bard and Robert Brettenaugh, are also on hand!

Fred and regular Jeff substitute, George Jenson from Jenson Consulting, have a broad conversation about Tucson and our refugee neighbors.  Nicolle Trudeau, Program Director for Refugee Focus, and Mia Hansen, whom is a refugee volunteer (and a board member of the Festivals & Events Association of Tucson and Southern Arizona) talk about their organization, how refugees from around the world are coming to Tucson to begin their new lives.  They also let us know how folks in the community can help!!!

The Native Culture Show

They sit down with Robert Valencia, whom has served as the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and currently Secretary of the Pascua Yaqui Nation, and get a taste of the culture created here in the Old Pueblo!

Lots going on this week ans Fred and Jeff get to announce the winners of the 2015 Arizona International Film Festival and talk with some of the winners, chat with Amanda and Marty Badegian from the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes and hear about the upcoming 28th Annual Reno Gannon Jell-O Wrestling Benefit Auction and Extravaganza event, where Fred will die in order to raise money for the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation.

 

The Singing Film Festival Show

This little gem of a show takes place at the Fourth Avenue Merchants Association office and features Sylvia Yeager from the Desert Voices Community Chorus and Sam Eatuer, whom is the Associate Producer of “Love is Now,” a highly anticipated movie being screened this week during the Arizona International Film Festival.

 

The Picasso Rides a Bike Show

Fred and Lady Bridgitte Thum talk with Herbert Siguenza, who wrote and is performing A Weekend with Pablo Picasso at the Arizona Theatre Company.  This is a role Herbert spent his whole life dreaming of and it’s another “can’t miss” production from ATC this season!

The International Bluegrass Film Festival Show

This week we celebrate Bluegrass and a local movie opening the Arizona International Film Festival.

But first, Fred and Jeff talk with Pete Schwarz and Nicole Glasner from the Autism Society of Southern Arizona and the upcoming Autism Walk & Resource Fair.

Then, Jim Sanchez, Sue Elsclager, JoAnn Schifflet and Dave Polston share some great music as we patiently wait for the Marana Bluegrass Festival.

The show finishes with our annual visit with Mia Schnaible and the Arizona International Film Festival.  Leslie Epperson, director of Many Bones, One Heart and Robert Loomis from Dropkick talk about their films.
