Then, Mia Schnaible from the 22nd Arizona International Film Festival brings director Dan Kruse to the big show to talk about his documentary ZOOM and the fabulous festival coming up next week.

Jeff flies solo this week as Fred and his boys enjoy Spring Break in the Magic Kingdom!

The folks from the Marana Bluegrass Festival liven up the studio this week, talking about the festival and playing some great music for your Easter Sunday!!!

 

The Tea & Beads Show

Fred and Jeff welcome Jean Baruch and Erika Colombi from Beads of Courage, an international program for children facing serious medical challenges, which was started right here in the Old Pueblo.  They’ll talk about the program and a fun event coming up next month to support their activities.

Also on the grand old program is Manish Shah, the proprietor of the Maya Tea Company and the Dean of Tucson’s Farmers Markets.  He’ll be talking about the history of our local markets, the latest trends and maybe a couple of words about tea!!!

The Peachin Show

Fred and Jeff welcome Mary Peachin to the St. Patrick’s Day program this week!  Mary Peachin ~ writer, photographer, adventure traveler and collector of memories ~ will talk about her life  and times and a more recent project…collecting the memories of our community and inviting you to help grow her inventory of stories.

Also on the big show Michele Murphy from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Southern Arizona will talk about the strides being made for folks effected with this challenge.

The DMAFB Show

Fred and Jeff visit The Heritage Room, aka The Dragon’s Lair, at one of their favorite places, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.  This is their first remote broadcast since coming over to 104.1 FM!!!

They have great conversations with the 2012 Airman of the Year and one of our A-10 pilots.  Lt. Col. Robin Stoddard is also on hand to talk about one of our favorite youth programs, Wright Flight!

 

The Downtown / Ben’s Bells Show

This week Fred and Jeff welcome friends from our wonderfully beloved Downtown!

Caitlin Jensen from the Downtown Tucson Partnership is on hand to talk about all the March activities, including the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Tucson Fringe Theater Festival and 2nd Saturdays Downtown!

Also joining the big show is Jeannette Maré , Ben’s mom and the executive Director of Ben’s Bells Project.  Their mission is to inspire, educate and motivate each other to realize the impact of intentional kindness.  Jeannette will be talking about the Project, its impacts and how we all can participate and help.

 

The 2013 Tucson Festival of Books Show

Fred and Jeff welcome Bill Viner and Lydia Millet to the Grand Ol’ Program this week!

Bill is the co-founder of the Tucson Festival of Books (TFOB).  While the TFOB is only in its 5th year, it’s the 4th largest book festival in the country.  It bring authors and readers from Arizona and around the world to the Old Pueblo to celebrate everything about reading.

Lydia is the author of nine books, including a story collection, “Love in Infant Monkeys,” a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, a novel, “How the Dead Dream,” which was an L.A. Times Best Book of 2008 and “My Happy Life,” which won the 2003 PEN-USA Award for Fiction.  She is a Presenting Author and a local mom.
