The 2020 Tucson Festival of Books is just around the corner. Fred and Jeff interview Aja Gabel who’s written a new book, The Ensemble, The addictive debut novel about four young friends navigating the cutthroat world of music and their complex relationships with one another, as ambition, passion, and love intertwine over the course of their lives.

 

The Soundscapes Show

He talks about the upcoming, 6th Annual Downtown Lecture Series, SOUNDSCAPES. Music, Place, and Identity.

The program is every Thursday in October and features professors from the U of A talking about how a place influences the music and culture.

He also talks about the Community Classroom project that targets folks who look at life as an educational continuum.

Set in drought-plagued Northern California in 1976, The Divide chronicles the story of Sam Kincaid (King), an aging rancher with a failing memory, his estranged and independent-minded daughter, Sarah, and Luke, a young ranch hand who finds himself in the midst of a family in crisis. Internal struggles, the realities of an unforgiving landscape, and the need to reconcile a long-ago tragedy collide to create the backdrop for this classic American Western. – Jana Brown
